The rarest Toyota Classic frame sedan appeared on sale in the USA.

The rarest Toyota Classic frame sedan appeared on sale in the USA. The starting price of the car at the Duncan Imports & Classic auction is $49,991.

The Toyota Classic was produced in 1997 in 1997, in honor of the 60th anniversary of the first Toyota Model AA car in 1936, celebrated a year earlier. The car had a retro exterior and was sold only in the domestic market of Japan.

The Classic is based on a Toyota Hilux frame pickup truck with a two-row cab (code N100), which is quite modern for the 90s. If you look closely, you can see that the body of the “neo-retro model” is made on the basis of the pickup truck cab - the power frame, all doors and windows are preserved from it. The front and rear of the Toyota Classic are original, in the style of Toyota AA. Coloring two-tone.

The supporting spars of the Classic frame are shortened relative to the pickup truck, the wheelbase is 2850 mm, the total length of the sedan is 4885 mm.

Under the hood of a retro car is a 2.0-liter 3Y-E gasoline engine with 96 hp. and a torque of 160 Nm. Gearbox 4-speed, automatic, rear-wheel drive. The salon basically repeats the Hilux, but from a stylistic point of view it is aged with decorative wooden inserts and a wooden steering wheel. The seats are upholstered in genuine leather.

A car sold in the US has traveled only 11,077 km in 25 years and is in virtually new condition.

It should be noted here that, unlike other rare JDM cars of the 90s, which in recent years have begun to skyrocket in price and acquire collectible value, Toyota Classic as an investment tool is a so-so option. Indeed, in 1997, this model cost $ 75,000 new.
